Resumo

Este artigo apresenta uma interpretação exegética do texto de João 6,16-21. Episódio no qual Jesus caminha sobre as águas. Este artigo analisou os contextos (social, histórico, literário e gramatical) em que esta perícope está inserida, para que desta maneira seja viável se aproximar da compreensão mais plausível que o autor original intentou com o seu texto. As minúcias nesta passagem mostram que o autor do Evangelho de João quer muito mais do que mostrar um evento milagroso, antes quer apresentar Jesus como o ‘Eu Sou’.

The episode of Jesus walking on water: an exegetical interpretation of the text of John 6.16-21

ABSTRACT: This article presents an exegetical interpretation of the text of John 6:16-21. That is the episode which Jesus walks on the waters. This essay analyzes the contexts (social, historical, literary, grammatical) which this pericope is inserted, for in this way approach to the most plausible understanding that the original author has attempted with his text. The details in this passage shows that the author of the Gospel of John wants much more than shows a miraculous event, rather he wants to present Jesus like the ‘I Am’.
