A EXPERIÊNCIA DO SOFRIMENTO E DO MAL NO MUNDO NEGA A EXISTÊNCIA DE DEUS?

Resumo

O texto trata do problema do mal em relação à existência de Deus. A questão principal é se a existência e experiência do sofrimento e do mal torna logicamente impossível a existência de Deus. A hipótese levantada é que não há incompatibilidade lógica necessária entre a existência do sofrimento e do mal e a existência de Deus. Para verificar-se a hipótese, foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica, cotejando a questão através de um meio que transita do geral para o particular. Expõe-se uma síntese do pensamento de Agostinho, que propõe que o mal é a privação de uma perfeição que a substância deveria ter, não uma realidade positiva. Ademais, apresenta-se uma síntese do princípio lógico da não contradição e a perspectiva apologética do problema, que questiona como aceitar a existência de um Deus todo-poderoso e amoroso que permite o mal e o sofrimento no mundo. Após os devidos questionamentos, conclui-se que não há contradição lógica na existência do mal e a existência de Deus, bem como que as premissas que apontam a suposta existência de contradição não são necessariamente verdadeiras. Ademais, conclui-se que Deus permite a existência do mal para permitir o (necessário) livre-arbítrio humano e que o mal também serve como um meio para o crescimento moral e espiritual.

DOES THE EXPERIENCE OF SUFFERING AND EVIL IN THE WORLD DENY THE EXISTENCE OF GOD?

ABSTRACT: The text deals with the problem of evil in relation to the existence of God. The main question is whether the existence and experience of suffering and evil makes the existence of God logically impossible. The hypothesis raised is that there is no necessary logical incompatibility between the existence of suffering and evil and the existence of God. In order to verify the hypothesis, a bibliographical research was carried out, comparing the question through a means that transits from the general to the particular. A synthesis of Augustine's thought is presented, which proposes that evil is the deprivation of a perfection that the substance should have, not a positive reality. Furthermore, a synthesis of the logical principle of non-contradiction and the apologetic perspective of the problem is presented, which questions how to accept the existence of an all-powerful and loving God who allows evil and suffering in the world. After due questioning, it is concluded that there is no logical contradiction in the existence of evil and the existence of God, as well as that the premises that point to the supposed existence of contradiction are not necessarily true. Furthermore, it is concluded that God allows the existence of evil to allow the (necessary) human free will and that evil also serves as a means for moral and spiritual growth.
